DDC chairs seminar on conclusion of week-long Plantation Drive

KUPWARA, MARCH 28: On the conclusion of weeklong plantation drive, District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg, today planted a sapling in the premises of Degree College Kupwara.

On the occasion, DDC stressed on continued efforts by all the concerned departments to increase the green cover in the District by undertaking plantation at a large scale.

He further said that he has already directed all the concerned agencies including District Heads to involve students of schools, colleges of the District in the drive.

Meanwhile DDC as a chief guest attended a Seminar on the theme of Forest and Education where hundreds of students participated. The seminar was held in the auditorium of Government Degree College Kupwara.

DDC in his speech said plantation drive will not only change the atmosphere of the whole Valley but also will provide us firewood, timber and other requirements of the people and ultimately will reduce the burden on our green wealth and scenic beauty.

The Principal GDC Kupwara, Principal Higher Secondary School Kupwara, Students and others also spoke on the occasion.

Pertinent to mention here that the plantation drive started last week by Department of Social Forestry is going on in full swing across the district. It was informed by the DFO Social Forestry, Fayaz Ahmad that the department will continue the drive with full efforts till 1 lakh different kind of saplings will be planted across the district.
