DDC Budgam visits Degree College Magam

Stresses on imparting quality education

BUDGAM, NOVEMBER 06: District Development Commissioner, Budgam, Tariq Hussain Ganai today visited Government Degree College (GDC), Magam to review the functioning of the college.

He visited various blocks including library, classrooms, skill development centre and administrative block and under construction blocks of the college.

Principal GDC Magam apprised, the DDC about various issues faced by the college administration including space constraints and staff shortage. The DDC assured all issues particularly space and staff crises shall be taken up with the higher authorities for their timely redressal. He assured that the four walling of the college premises will also be taken up with concerned quarters.

Stressing on imparting quality education, the DDC sought details regarding courses available to the students in the college.

He was informed that including technical courses including Tourism and BCA, 21 other courses are being taught to the 2000 students enrolled under different streams.

The DDC expressed his satisfaction for introducing skill development courses like Pashmina and Kani-Shawl weaving, as started by the college to promote skill development sector. He was apprised that IGNOU study center has also been opened in the college premises to facilitate students acquiring their courses through distance mode.

College Principal also informed that GDC Magam is the only college in the District Budgam which is accredited with Grade-B by the NAAC.

The DDC was accompanied by Tehsildar Magam, Principal College and other concerned officers.
