DDC Shopian inaugurates Kissan Mela at Keller

SHOPIAN, JULY 10: District Development Commissioner Shopian, Chowdhary Mohammad Yaseen today inaugurated Kisan Mela under National Mission on Agriculture Extension and Technology (NMAET) at Keller Shopian.

The Mela was organised by the Department of Agriculture in collaboration with other allied Departments.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that the Kisan Mela has been organised with an aim to cover cent percent population of farmer community under various centrally sponsored schemes like PM Kisan, KCC and other welfare oriented schemes for their economic upliftment.

On the occasion, 44 Kisan Credit Cards were distributed by the DDC among the beneficiaries, adding he said that people have suffered of damages caused to their crops and this programme was held so that the people of Keller can avail the benefits of various schemes.

He said besides availing benefits under KCC and other schemes, the Kissan Mela will provide an opportunity for farmers to get latest technical knowhow of latest agricultural equipments and techniques to increase their income.

He exhorted upon the people for maintaining social distancing and adopting SOP’s especially stressed on use of masks to avoid the spread of COVID-19 Virus.

On the occasion, all the departments gave demonstration of their schemes and activities besides they also created awareness among farmers about the benefits of KCC and other schemes.

Among others Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Joint Director Agriculture, Lead District Manager, J&K Bank and other concerned besides a large number of beneficiaries participated in the day long programme.
