DDC G’bl chairs DLTF committee meet of BBBP scheme

GANDERBAL, SEPTEMBER 21: District Development Commissioner, (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting of the District Level Task Force (DLTF) Committee to discuss and finalize the action plan for achieving objectives of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme in the district.

At the outset of the meeting, District Programme officer ICDS deliberated about the action plan for achieving objectives of BBBP scheme besides initiatives and need of the scheme.

While deliberating on the goals and objectives of the schemes, the Program Officer ICDS said that the main crux of the scheme is to celebrate the girl child, enable her education besides ensuring her survival and protection.

The meeting was informed that a wide spectrum of activities will be carried out, such as celebration of girl child, mass media awareness campaign through awareness van, banners, hoardings, painting competition, Skit, drama play reflecting the importance of BBBP, holding of special sports activities, felicitation of girls for outstanding performance in board exams, besides, capacity buildings of PRIs, Senior citizen, media person, etc.

After discussing pros and cons of the action plan, DDC said that the coordinated and convergent efforts are needed to ensure survival, protection and education of the girl child.

He urged upon the participants to adopt local best practices for dissemination of information so that the message of BBBP Scheme reaches every nook and corner of the district to achieve positive results on the ground.

The DC also suggested installing banners at all blocks with BBBP messages during ongoing Jan Abhiyaan and forthcoming B2V3.

He also stressed on installing hoarding carrying BBBP messages at public places besides pasting special stickers on public vehicles for the awareness of the general public.

Among others, SSP Ganderbal, District Programme officer ICDS, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer and other committee members were present in the meeting.
