SWD holds Drug demand reduction campaign at Surankote

POONCH, DECEMBER 29: Social Welfare Department Poonch today organized a Drug demand reduction campaign at Dak bunglow Surankote.

Member District Development Council Surankote B, Sohail shazad Malik was the chief Guest, while SDM Surankote, Naheem-un- Nissa was guest of honour.

District Social welfare officer, Shakeel Ahmed Malik, Tehsildar Surankote, Sheraz Ahmed Chowhan, SDPO Surankote, Khaliq Chowdhary besides youngsters, Locals and prominent citizens were present.

The programme was organized with the support of special officer for cultural activities Rajouri/Poonch, Dr.Alamdar Adam.

While speaking, DDC Member, Shazad Sohail Malik, enumerated the harmful effects of drugs in society and ways to reduce the demand of drugs by saying no. He appreciated the role of the Social Welfare department in organising such types of awareness programmes. He urged the department to organize more such programmes in the future.

On the occasion, a cultural event depicting the ill effects of drugs was presented by different cultural groups including, Inder kour & party, Master Kartar Chand &party, Zaheer &party and others.

TSWO Surankote, Nusrat Jabeen Coordinated and conducted the proceedings of the programme.

SDM Surankote, Naheem-Un-Nissa Bhatti imparted awareness to the public and youngsters about the harms of drug addiction and legal provisions for dealing with the perpetrators.

Tehsildar Surankote, Sheraj Ahmed explained the dangerous social and health consequences of drug abuse.

Earlier, District Social Welfare Office, Shakeel Ahmed Malik said the motto behind the campaign was to make the people aware about drug abuse and its consequences.
