SHOPIAN, SEPTEMBER 22: In the run up to Special Summary Revision which started on 15th of September 2022, the District Election Office Shopian today gave a symbolic flag-off to the Cyclothon 2022 and imparted awareness regarding the Special Summary Revision 2022 to the participants at Bohrihalan, Shopian.

On the occasion, Dy.DEO called for greater and more inclusive participation of people in the electoral process for strengthening the electoral democracy.

A large number of posters, caps, T-shirts and tea cups were distributed among cyclists to attract the youth of the district to have a greater participation in Special Summary Revision 2022.

The District Youth Services and Sports Officer on the occasion spoke at length on electoral participation and other election related aspects.

The Dy. District Election Officer later visited the Shopian Market and interacted with the trade associations, fruit growers, members of the civil society, shopkeepers, vegetable sellers and other masses and informed them about the schedule of Special Summary Revision 2022 and Special Camp day dates to be held in the district.

He informed the people that BLOs have been instructed to come in contact with every household of their polling area so that no eligible voters are left behind.

Later, in the afternoon a meeting of BLO Supervisors was chaired by the District Election Officer at Mini Secretariat, here in which they were urged to increase the enrollment and gender ratio of the electors.

The District Election Office has also requested Programme Officer, Mission Poshan to direct their female field staff to help eligible female voters get enrolled by visiting door to door.

The District Social Welfare Officer was asked to provide the list of persons with disabilities so that BLO can reach them for enrollment.

Chief Education Officer of the district has also been requested to provide the list of students attaining age of 18 or plus on 1st Oct 2022 who are studying in different secondary schools of the district for the purpose of electoral registrations.
