One-day Kisan Mela, Farmer's Awareness Camp held in Doda
DODA, MARCH 18: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare conducted a one-day Kisan Mela/Farmers Awareness Camp today in Community Hall Doda. Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Mahajan and Director Agriculture Jammu, KK Sharma inaugurated the programme.
The inauguration was held in the presence of SSP Doda, Abdul Qayoom; ADC, Dr R K Bharti; President MC Doda, Ved Parkash Gupta; BDC Chairman Gundana, Sarshad Natnoo; DDC Councillor Gundana, Asim Hashmi; Chief Agriculture Officer, Anil Gupta and others.
Approximately 600 farmers and staff members from allied departments such as Horticulture, Floriculture, Sheep Husbandry, Apiculture and Animal Husbandry participated in the programme. Chief Agriculture Officer Anil Gupta presented the welcome address and briefed attendees on activities carried out by the department in the district.
Technical sessions were held for farmers where various resource persons advised them on latest scientific agricultural practices to increase produce and double their income. Sessions on soil health management, integrated farming and formation of FPOs were held during the programme.
Stalls showcasing best agricultural practices were also inspected by DC Vishesh Mahajan and Director Agriculture KK Sharma. The best stalls/products were awarded cash prizes by the department.
