DC Samba flags off run for drug-free district

SAMBA, MARCH 24: As part of the revitalisation of Youth Clubs under the Mission Youth programme, the district administration organised a marathon and musical programme to spread the message of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. The 2.8 km run for a drug-free Samba district was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta.

Participants including youths, officers and locals took part in the run which traversed through DC Office Samba, Chichi Mata Temple, Basanter Bridge and finally culminated at Indoor Stadium Samba. A vivid Dogri culture cum musical programme was also conducted at Indoor Stadium by renowned artists Suraj Singh and group. The Roohi-Joohi duo enthralled the audience with their melodious songs and participants thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Deputy Commissioner called upon youths to remain away from drugs and connect with life through music, literature and sports. During the programme at Indoor Stadium Samba, a plantation drive and signature campaign captioned ‘I Say No to Drugs’ were also organised.

Students of different institutions participated in the run in which Mohd Sadiq Sharma in Boys category and Mansi in Girls category took podium positions. All winners were suitably felicitated by dignitaries. The programmes were conducted by the Department of Information and Public Relations, Department of Social Welfare and Department of District Employment and Counselling Centre.

Among others, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Benam Tosh; ADDC Samba, Rajinder Singh; ADC, Rakesh Dubey; PO ICDS, Joginder Jasrotia; Addl SSP, Surinder Choudhary also attended the event.
